What's New On Ithaca Greece
January 2025
Wednesday 1st - Wishing everyone a very Happy New Year with good health and every happiness.
Friday 3rd - It's been a fine weather week to start off 2025.
Monday 6th - Today Greece celebrates Epiphany, the blessing of the waters. On Ithaca There will be diving for the cross in Vathy, Frikes and Kioni. We'll have some photos coming.

Monday 13th - Wind and rain for today, Ithaca's quiet with many locals hibernating over the winter. Below - Vathy.

Wednesday 15th - Rainy and cold just about sums up what's happening on Ithaca. The island is in full hibernation, especially with this weather.
Tuesday 21st - Not much to say. It's very quiet on the island, the weather is chilly, sometimes cloudy sometimes sunny. Below - Kioni.

Sunday 26th - Although lots is going on in terms of Coucnil works, like roads and fire breaks etc., the rest of the island is pretty quiet with not much going on. That will change as we get closer to Carnival time.
Monday 27th - In January 2025, tens of thousands protested across Greece, including on the island of Ithaca, demanding justice for the 57 victims of the 2023 Tempi train disaster. Public anger remains high due to the lack of accountability, with judicial investigations still ongoing nearly two years later. Audio evidence suggesting victims survived the initial impact but later died due to asphyxiation has intensified outrage. Demonstrators also criticized the government's slow rail reforms and the nomination of Constantine Tassoulas, viewed as emblematic of inaction.
